23 Oct Andrew Gyle, MD: A 2025 Unsung Hero

It is with great pride that I nominate Dr. Andrew Gyle as a New York ACEP Unsung Hero. Over the past 16 years he has been working at Unity Hospital’s Emergency Department. He is a very carrying and compassionate doctor. He has been for years a very loyal employee and a “work horse” in our ED working many more hours than need be and also doing shifts at some of our smaller EDs outside of Monroe County. He is a very knowledgeable physician who calmly and competently manages critical patients. He is very active in the teaching of our future young physicians.
Andy has been an active voice in our department and thinks outside of the box with ideas to better serve our patients by keeping them safe and giving them the highest quality medical care. He has been very active with our Quality Assurance Committee meeting in the past and continues to play in a softball league with many of the other ED staff. He is extremely well liked in the Department by all the staff due to his easy approachability and eagerness to jump in whenever he is called upon.
Recipient Bio:
Dr. Gyle’s Medical Doctorate degree was from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago. From there he did his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Even back then he was very active in teaching of medical students and looking at ways to help facilitate flow and throughput in the ED. Upon graduation he decided to stay in Rochester, N.Y. and join the Unit.
