Anita Lui, DO, CHSE, FACEP: A 2025 Unsung Hero

Dr. Anita Lui has always been a key member of our department and particularly our residency program. She was serving as associate residency director when a tragedy resulted in our residency director, Dr. Parikh, having to go on an extended leave of absence. Anita stepped up immediately, not only providing tremendous emotional support to Dr. Parikh but taking over nearly all his academic responsibilities. Dr. Lui made a seamless transition to interim-residency director assuring that none of our residents’ education or wellness was affected and that our faculty continued to thrive in their academic endeavors.

Dr. Anita Lui has held every role in our institution from resident, fellow, attending, core faculty, clerkship director, assistant residency director and now interim-Residency Director. She has excelled in each role and always shown that she is ready for the next step in her academic/administrative journey. She provides support to all those around her. She garners respect and admiration from all those she works with. While some may find her intimidating at first due to her serious and focused demeanor, they soon find out that she holds herself and all those around her to high standards. Her inner warmth is palpable very soon thereafter.
