Leadership and Development Fellowship

Applications are now open for 2027 – Due October 28th 2027. 

New York ACEP’s Leadership and Development Fellowship is designed for early-career members, typically 2-5 years post residency training, with interest in advocacy, program development and leadership. This fellowship provides participants with the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to become effective advocates for emergency patients and influential leaders within the specialty of Emergency Medicine. Fellows will gain valuable insights into health policy, organizational leadership, and systems improvement, empowering them to shape the future of emergency care.

Fellowship Selection Criteria: 

• Applicants should have interest in leadership in Emergency Medicine and consideration of leadership in NYACEP/ ACEP going forward. 
• Applicants should be able to show leadership potential and interest in advocacy/ government affairs, education, EMS, practice management, professional development, and/ or research.  
• The applicants desire and ability to participate in required mentoring sessions, conference, board meetings, and committee meetings should be clear and be evidenced by their application, CV, and reference letters. 
• The applicant should have the commitment of their department leadership to allow for participation in the monthly board of director meetings, committee meetings, mentoring sessions, and conferences that are part of the fellowship program (template available here).
• Applications will be reviewed and candidates selected by the NY ACEP Board of Directors. 

New York ACEP will cover related registration fees for Fellows to attend required meetings/conferences. Travel stipends will be available based on meeting location.
