As the Ultrasound Site Director at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Columbia University Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Miles Gordon has made a profound impact on patient care and education. Dr. Gordon is an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship trained Emergency Physician who seamlessly integrates point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in his clinical care of patients, while also serving as a leader to improve the ultrasound workflow and contributing to the professional development of ED faculty. Dr. Gordon plays an integral role in the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons curriculum, teaching ultrasound to medical students at every level and serving as a faculty lead for the medical student Emergency Ultrasound Elective. His approachable and engaging teaching style has inspired countless trainees. Colleagues describe him as “always teaching and inspiring our next generation of learners,” “a delightful human being,” and someone who “goes above and beyond for patients and the team.” Dr. Gordon represents a NY ACEP Unsung Hero through his leadership, teaching and compassionate care.
Dr. Gordon provides impact with his compassionate clinical care of ED patients and his dedication to educating medical students, residents, advanced practice providers and faculty, particularly in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). He exemplifies the rare combination of technical expertise and emotional intelligence, seamlessly integrating both in his clinical and educational practice. Recipient Bio:
Dr. Miles Gordon is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He received his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at Northwell Health North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Gordon has been a faculty member of the Columbia University Department of Emergency Medicine Emergency Ultrasound Division since 2020 and serves as the Emergency Ultrasound Site Director at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Department of Emergency Medicine. His academic focus centers on medical student education. In addition, Dr. Gordon is the Program Director of the NY ACEP Academy of Clinical Educators (ACE). A native New Yorker, he loves spending time with his family, playing sports and music, and teaching ultrasound to anyone eager to learn.
