What We Do
Provide leadership to improve prehospital servicesDevelop strategies to promote physician management of paramedic programs and ambulance servicesServe as a resource and information center for hospital and pre-hospital preparedness Enhance, New York ACEP ITLS program, Monitor and actively work with the Department of Health to promote emergency physician leadershipDefine and prioritize issues related to interfacility transport; EMS Report Card; MOLST and patient exposure

OUR BELIEFS
New York ACEP believes that emergency medical services (EMS) are the first and foremost medical services in an out of hospital setting.
As such, EMS must be viewed with the same demand for quality and excellence as any emergency medical care provided in the hospital.
We believe that all New Yorkers are entitled access to high quality EMS whether in rural, suburban or urban settings
We support efforts to improve the training and professional development of all EMS personnel and to upgrade the standards for dispatching services, ambulance staffing, and the level of medical care in order to optimally treat and stabilize the patients that are encountered in EMS systems.
New York ACEP believes that the direct involvement of the Department of Health and their requirement for qualified medical direction in all phases of out of hospital care are necessary to ensure the public of quality healthcare beginning with the EMS providers and continuing through transport to and treatment in the hospital Emergency Department.
The EMS committee meets virtually once a quarter.
