Medical Director

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons is seeking a highly qualified leader to assume the role of Medical Director at the NewYork Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center Adult Emergency Department in Manhattan. The emergency department serves approximately 100,000 patients annually.

As Medical Director, the successful candidate will report to the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and will be charged with the following:
• Manage the daily operations of the emergency department
• Collaborate with EM and hospital leadership to enhance clinical care for all patients
• Support and initiate quality and performance improvement efforts as directed by the Chair and Vice Chairs of Clinical Operations and Quality and Patient Safety
• Participate in representing the Department of Emergency Medicine to hospital and other internal and external departmental stakeholders.

Successful applicants must possess an MD or DO, have completed an emergency medicine residency, have current board certification in Emergency Medicine, and have significant experience in emergency department operations. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Academic rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Columbia University offers competitive salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications.

Salary range: $304,000 – $382,000.
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, shift assignment and training.
